Nike Running Gear

So it's become a tradition {at least for the past two years} for Dad and I to run on Thanksgiving morning. This year, we did not do the 8K Turkey Trot {mostly because I'm ran a 5K on Saturday}, and instead headed out for a 4 mile run with my friend B. It was an absolutely gorgeous day for a run!

A few months back when Dad and I attended the Nike Chicago LunarGlide+3 event, Nike graciously sent a new pair of kicks and some tech shirts for myself AND for my Dad! We finally snapped a few photos of us in the running gear. I have been wearing the Nike Chicago LunarGlide+3 for my regular running shoes and I love them.

Thank you again to Chicago Blogger Network and Nike for the gear!

Grant Park 5K Turkey Trot

Saturday morning my friend B and I ran the first Grant Park 5K Turkey Trot. We kicked butt, both of us setting new personal records for the distance. We ran, we finished, and then we brunched at Ann Sather's. A perfect end to our morning.

Chicago LunarGlide+ 3 Event

On Saturday, I attended the launch of the NIKE LunarGlide+ 3 event at AKIN. Who better to take with me than my dad {the 6x marathon runner himself}. He's running the Chicago Marathon next weekend, and I thought this would be right up his alley. I was correct!

We had fun perusing the merchandise - scoping out the new shoes and t-shirts designed by local Chicago artist Tara D, and noshing on the free food. I did not  snap a photo of my favorite t-shirt which said 'Run like El'. Get it? Run. Like. El. {I thought it was very clever. Haha}

Here are a few snapshots of the event {I only had my iPhone, so I apologize for the quality}.

{I want them!}

{Dad complimenting Tara D. on her work ... haha!}

{Dad wanted to wear the helmet ... I discouraged it}

{In front of Tara D.'s mobile galleria ... such a cool truck!}

A HUGE thank you to Chicago Blogger Network and Kelly Ryan O'Brien for the invitation; and to AKIN and NIKE for hosting the event!! I seriously had a blast.

Disclosure: In exchange for sharing the invitation and blogging about the event, I will be getting a pair of these sweet new sneaks to replace my awfully old pair. See ya later, old lady shoes!

Running Fever

As I mentioned a few weeks ago, I've got a new running buddy. We run together twice a week along the lakeshore. It's so much fun! As with any workout {or sport, I suppose}, it's essential to have good gear. Unfortunately, sometimes this means that style succumbs to practicality.

Earlier this year I purchased an amazing new running bra that literally changed my life {I will post about this later}. Since then, I haven't replaced any of my workout gear. First on the list is a new pair of running shoes. I've been on the hunt for a new pair of kicks {mine look awfully similar to these}. They're nearly three years old, so I'm due for a new pair but I just haven't gotten around to buying them.

This Saturday, AKIN is hosting a launch party for NIKE's new Chicago LunarGlide+ 3. {Hubby has a pair of the LunarGlide+ 2, and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a bit envious of them.}

I'm excited to see what stylish running clothes they feature and to check out these sweet running shoes! If you're a local Chicagoan, and you like to run {or work out}, consider checking it out. I'll be there!

{me, no makeup, and the turkey}

phew. i can't believe it's been a week since my last update. i've still been rocking my 30for30 items, i just haven't been taking photographs! boo. thanksgiving is always such a great time to spend with family and friends. this year my poor husband had to have his wisdom teeth out, the day before thanksgiving. i've been spending time taking care of him. is it just me, or are boys extra whiny when they're sick/injured/recovering from oral surgery?
this was the first year that i ran the 8k turkey trot on thanksgiving. it was so much fun! i ran with my dad, who was such an encouragement during the run.

i was also in charge of the turkey again! i hate to brag, but it seriously looked like something out of a magazine. martha stewart, eat your heart out.

i'll be back to my normal outfit updates later this week. i can tell you that i spent a majority of my weekend in my leggings. they're so comfortable & the elastic waist is a god-send...

raise it up

this past weekend i ran my first 5k! there were 15,000 registered 5k runners and 15,000 registered 15k runners. there were about 12,000 that finished the 5k. i ran with two friends, (one was a fellow rookie 5k-er). it  was so much fun! i ran the entire time, and met my goal.

i'm already looking forward to my next run!
