where do you go with your broken heart in tow

...and the album of the month is "so jealous" by tegan and sara. (surprise!)
although released in 2004, it remains one of my top picks in the indie category.
i love their overall style of melodies, harmonies, and lyrics.
tracks i always set on repeat: where does the good go & you wouldn't like me.
check them out. they rock. pun intended.

i know i know i know

friday night was "girls night out" with two other interns from the hospital. i can't remember the last night that i've been "out" on a friday night. usually i'm so exhausted from the week that i'm in bed by 10pm. this friday i was out way past my bedtime (1am!)

we started off at the green mill with free drinks courtesy of one of the interns' friends. the green mill in itself is an experience. the green mill has been around since 1907! a famous jazz club in the city featured in a heap of films, books, and classic mob stories. the doorman was really really intimidating - i think he was just mad that we didn't pay the $12 cover.

tegan & sara played an excellent set. the first half was from their new album "sainthood" but the second half was a lot of their old stuff! i had a blast!
the aragon ballroom is just as old, if not older than the green mill. it was a really sweet venue.

overall: it was a great way to spend my friday night!

the times they are a-changing

in all of my *extra* time, i've been working to organize, de-clutter, and overall overhaul our apartment to make into a more inhabitable space. in order to do this, i must first scour my favorite sources of inspiration.
my top three:

(apartment therapy)

(design sponge)
(how about orange)
because i would much rather personalize our space to make it reflect our personalities and style i spend hours and hours looking at these blogs & gathering design ideas. when chris and i are trying to figure out what to do next, chris always says, "well, what does apartment therapy have to say about it?" cracks me up.
we just renewed our lease for another year,
so i am excited to work on our apartment during the summer!

lennon got his first haircut and looks pretty scrawny right now...but he's hilarious. his favorite place to be is on the bed...

(lennon in the guest room)
i'm still loving my internship!
more and more i realize that i love the medical social work setting. working with the pediatric population is challenging (especially when a child dies, or has a terminal prognosis), but i would love to work in a pediatric hospital or on a pediatric service at a hospital...someday. sigh.

but in the end the only steps that matter are the ones you take all by yourself

...so i failed at the monthly music post in february.
so i guess i will just have to have two music posts for march.
instead of selecting two entire albums
(it's really difficult for me to love an entire album, actually),
i thought to select an artist and an album. smart, eh?

introducing...THE WEEPIES: deb talan & steve tannen.

their music is folky (naturally) and harmonic,
with a strong element of lyrical talent.
their music truly calms & speaks to my soul.
equally as charming is the fact that they are a married couple.
my top picks for a good snapshot of their brilliance:
"and the world spins madly on" and "can't go back now"

hope you enjoy them as much as i do.
