Sweet Ride

The past few weekends I've noticed a tiny truck parked on our street corner boasting sweet treats. Come to find out Sweet Ride is a mobile bakery offering Whoopie Pies, Cupcakes, and Cake Pops. Since Whoopie Pies are the new trendy sweet treat, I thought I'd give them a whirl. I purchased a Black & White and Red Velvet Whoopie, and a Vanilla Cake Pop. Hubby chose the Red Velvet Whoopie {shaped in a heart} and I the Black & White Whoopie {in the shape of a cat}. We both agreed they were delicious and fluffy.

Whoopie Pie v. Cupcake: Given the choice between a Whoopie Pie and Cupcake, I'd still go Cupcake. I'm a loyal fan. Whether they're trendy or not, they'll always be close to my heart.

Inspired Tuesday: Bell X1

For this installation of Inspired Tuesday I bring to you one of my current music crushes: Bell X1. I know they're not a "new" band on the music circuit, but this song simply rocks my socks. I love the lyrics and their overall vibe.

Enjoy!

Foodie Monday: Sola

This weekend Hubby and I visited one of our favorite restaurants in the City: Sola. I saw a sweet Groupon a few months ago offering a $50 gift certificate for $25! Score! We made reservations for this weekend to celebrate the end of Hubby's spring break.

We shared Artichoke Fritters, Sea Green Salad, and Truffle Parmesan Fries {and a bottle of Merlot}. Hubby ordered the Short Ribs, and I had the Wagyu Hanger Steak. Everything was so delicious that we couldn't resist the desserts. Hubby ordered the Mai'a Hot Fudge Sundae, and I had the Sorbet Flight {cocount, passion fruit, and mango}.

The photos are a little grainy due per Hubby's request for no flash {aka: don't make a scene}. Overall the food is delicious, the flavors are so subtle and complimentary of each other that you just "know" it's been prepared well.

Overall, I would highly recommend this little spot if you're looking for a special occasion, or just a nice dinner on the Northside that's not overly pretentious. They also have a great Prixe Fix Menu available Mon - Wed.

{I threw in the photo of my outfit simply because I adore this dress! It's from the Rodarte Target Colletion and I wear it regularly.}

Weekly Gratitude: 15th Edition

Things I'm thankful for this week:

  • The rain; I really love the thunderstorms, and I love being able to wear my Hunter boots everywhere and tromp through the puddles!
  • Two extra days off to relax with Hubby, Lennon, and family
  • The Chiropractor; I've been in so much pain, but it's getting better little by little thanks to her!
  • Our tax refund; although I don't like that the government gets to use our money interest-free for an entire year, it's like getting an extra paycheck. That's cool.
  • The Easter / Passover Celebration

Thursday Photographs: The Office

Here are a few photographs of where I spend 7.5 hours of my day. These are the little things that make me smile throughout the day and remind me that my work life is not my WHOLE life!

Inspired Tuesday: Jess LC

For this week's installment of Inspired Tuesday I'd like to talk about a little jewelry line that I've been admiring for the past year: Jess LC. I love that she's a local Chicagoan and I adore her blog Makeunder My Life. She is clearly inspired to design her business with intention, and inspires others to live with intention. My favorite series on her blog can be found here.

I chose this necklace as my intention for daily living because sometimes I've just got to remember to breathe. It sounds simple enough, yes? No. Living in a city, constantly surrounded by people and things and noises and distractions, I often find myself forgetting to just "be".

I've been wearing this necklace for the past few days and have often found myself taking deeper breaths and remembering to just take it one minute at a time. I guess you could say it's helping me live out my intention? Yes, yes, it is.

Thursday Photographs

Since today is Thursday, I don't have anything remarkable to write.

These are photos of my day: in the car on the way to work, the gorgeous trees/sky on my way home, Lennon's head peeking through our apartment window, my moccasins during our walk, my adorable neighborhood sign, and inevitably what Lennon will look like around 9pm when he's down for the count.

Tomorrow is Friday. Yes, that's what I'll write: Tomorrow is Friday.
