32 weeks & a baby shower

This past Saturday my friends B & J hosted a baby shower with some of my favorite friends. It was perfectly laid back, with delicious brunch treats and drinks. I loved catching up with everyone - and making them take a drink of their beverage every time I said the word "cute".

Here are a few photos of the day...

I'm just so thankful for loving and supportive friends!

In other news, "pregnancy brain" is in fact a real thing. I used to think it was just a silly made-up phrase. It's been pretty intense this week, and I find myself very distracted and forgetful. I've been trying to be patient with myself, but it's pretty difficult {especially since I'm a very task-oriented person...}. Oh, well.

I can't believe I'm 32 weeks now. I see the midwife every 2 weeks, and then at 36 weeks I'll start going each week until "the end". Eek!

32 weeks

Foodie Monday: Toast

This weekend Hubby and I decided to try a new brunch spot in lieu of our usual M. Henry. We've passed by Toast on several occasions and thought we should give it a try. If I'm being completely honest, I was smitten with the name. Toast: brilliant.

The wait was an hour for a table for two for Sunday brunch. I was surprised how many people would attempt to put their names in and then give the hostess attitude when she told them how long the wait would be. 1) The place is tiny and 2) it's Sunday. Duh, there's going to be a lengthy wait for a table.

Overall, the experience was okay. The menu had a substantial amount of options, and the decor was neat. Vintage toasters lined the shelves, vintage photographs on the walls, and a chalkboard menu. I ordered the french toast orgy: a variety of a half order of each of their stuffed french toasts. I thought it was tasty. Hubby ordered the salmon omelet with house potatoes. As I've mentioned before, we are obsessed with house potatoes {also known as home fries}. Although Hubby thought they were tasty, they just don't compare to our favorite in the City {also M. Henry}.

Although it was fun to try a new place, we likely won't be back for more Toast.

xoxo,

PJ

Weekend Update

A few photos from brunch at our favorite spot (m. henry): delicious eggs benedict, and the best potatoes in the city. In other news, I finally upgraded to the IPHONE this weekend. I'm already loving all of the incredible apps! (All of these photos were edited using Instagram.)

Lots of changes are coming up for me over the next few months, so I'll be sharing those soon! The first switch that I'll announce is that I've slowly been making the switch to Wordpress. I've been working on adding all of the archive content of this blog, to the new platform. (Wordpress really is pretty amazing, so I would recommend checking it out.)

Stay tuned!

brunching

brunching: eating brunch. one of my favorite things to do. so favorite, in fact that it was the meal that we served at our wedding reception.

this weekend hubby and i went to yolk. it was only our second time, and the first time we had excellent service, prompt food, so we figured we'd test it a second time to see if it was just a fluke. their menu is ginormous, so naturally i assume that to mean that it's going to be inconsistent quality. WRONG. the food really is good, service is good, and we didn't have to wait even 5 minutes to be seated; as we were leaving, the line was out the door. i had a frittata with chicken, sun-dried tomatoes, spinach, and goat cheese; hubby had the fajita omelet. both were absolutely delicious & we had plenty of leftovers for breakfast the next day. yum!
